School Tours
The BCHM extends special invitation to school groups. With dedicated displays for our younger visitors, children’s eyes are sure to light up as they discover fascinating stories of the Valley’s history!
The BCHM is always available for class tours from any school system in Blaine County. If you have a classroom studying a certain topic, the Museum offers guided tours with a guest speaker to share holdings on the subject. In addition to Museum staff, local historians often share knowledge with students on many topics, such as mining, sheepherding, development of Sun Valley, and the Union Pacific Railroad.
The BCHM offers class tours that support the Idaho Content Standards for social studies.

Traveling Trunks Program
The Blaine County Historical Museum offers a Traveling Trunk Program to teachers and educational groups for a hands-on learning experience.
What is a Traveling Trunk?
Members of the Museum Board of Directors have put together curated collections of historic items. The Museum has multiple trunks available to educators on loan. The trunks contain objects and materials giving children unique experiences of tangible learning. They can be used to supplement classroom lessons, specifically of Idaho and Blaine County.
What is inside each trunk?
The trunks contain items that are kid-friendly, curated specifically for the encouragement of learning, conversation, and first-hand experience of history modern-day children may have never seen. Included in the trunks are outlines for history lessons of our area with interactive fun facts about the different eras of Blaine County.
Is there a cost to borrow a trunk?
The Blaine County Historical Museum offers this program at no cost to our community. The Museum aims to make history accessible to students in an impactful way.
Who is eligible to borrow a trunk?
Trunks are available to any school classroom in Blaine County, as well as homeschool groups. Boy and Girl Scout troops and other youth programs are also welcome to borrow a trunk.
How do I pick up a Traveling Trunk as a teacher?
A representative from BCHM is pleased to deliver and pick up your Traveling Trunk.
How long can a Traveling Trunk be kept in a classroom?
